S., Andrias

I’ll publish a new short story on Sunday. Here’s a preview for my fans, I know there are thousands of them:

Was ich mit „ansehnlich“ meine, lässt sich gut mit einer Zahl beschreiben: Andrias war über einen Meter lang und gehörte damit zu den stattlicheren Vertretern seiner weitläufigen Gattung.

WGA Strikes

Writers are still striking in Hollywood and at Broadway, leaving actors, movie makers and TV presenters speechless:

STRUZAN!

Indiana Jones, Rambo, ET, Blade Runner, Harry Potter, Shawshank Redemption, Star Wars, MAD Magazine, Superman, George Lucas… Who is the guy behind those cool movie posters and illustrations Hollywood uses to promote its movies? The answer: Drew Struzan. Amazing portfolio and well worth the visit. Click here.

Top 50 Movies: #33

#33 Out of Africa (1985)

Director: Sydney Pollack
Actors: Meryl Streep, Robert Redford, Klaus Maria Brandauer

Didn’t find a trailer online, so here’s a slideshow with John Barry’s movie soundtrack:

Brilliant movie that tells the story of both the doomed love affair between Karen Blixen (Meryl Streep) and Denys Finch Hatton (Robert Redford) and the fading beauty of Africa. Won 7 Oscars in 1986, including an award for best original score, best writing, best direction and best motion picture.

Movie quote:

“Perhaps he knew, as I did not, that the Earth was made round so that we would not see too far down the road.” - Karen Blixen

GREEN

More than 6 months and 30,000 words of SMOKY/GLASS, so the blog got a new dress; and it’s green! I guess you’ll have to see this for quite some time… But don’t fear: New content is just around the corner to distract your eyes from the blinding colors. On to another X months and Y words of S/G (with D)!

The Don: I have the biggest dick?

Donald Trump left a $10,000 tip for a waiter at the Buffalo Club in Santa Monica on December 03, 2007.

Chimpanzees Brighter than Humans

Good Friday read; article I found in the Daily Mail:

Until now, man has always believed that he is the smartest ape on the block.

But scientists claim to have proved that chimpanzees are brighter in some departments.

Lyrics #7

Manowar
Swords in the Wind

I Surrender My Soul Odin Hear My Call
One Day I’ll Sit Beside Your Throne In Valhalla’s Great Hall
Like So Many Before Me I’ll Die With Honor And Pride
The Right Of A Warrior Forever To Fight By Your Side
Send A Sign Raise The Sail Wave A Last Goodbye
Destiny Is Calling Immortality Be Mine

Call The Witch To Cast The Runes, Weave A Magic Spell
We Who Die In Battle Are Born Not For Heaven Not For Hell

We Are Sons Of Odin The Fire We Burn Inside
Is The Legacy Of Warrior Kings Who Reign Above In The Sky

I Will Lead The Charge My Sword Into The Wind
Sons Of Odin Fight To Die And Live Again
Viking Ships Cross The Sea, In Cold Wind, And Rain
Sail Into The Black Of Night Magic Stars Our Guiding Light

Today The Blood Of Battle Upon My Weapons Will Never Dry
Many I’ll Send Into The Ground Laughing As They Die.

Place My Body On A Ship And Burn It In The Sea
Let My Spirit Rise Valkries Carry Me
Take Me To Valhalla Where My Brothers Wait For Me
Fire Burning To The Sky My Spirit Will Never Die

I Will Lead The Charge My Sword Into The Wind
Sons Of Odin Fight To Die And Live Again
Viking Ships Cross The Sea, In Cold Wind, And Rain
Sail Into The Black Of Night Magic Stars Our Guiding Light

Manowar - Warriors of the World

50% of one smoky year

SMOKY/GLASS turns six (months) shortly. This means CHANGES AHEAD! Only little changes, though. I’m thinking about a little change in color and a reorganization of the sidebar. I can’t believe, by the way, that as much as 30,000 words have been published on this site since the beginning. We’ve come a long way and the journey isn’t over, yet. But let’s stop being melancholic. Look ahead instead - the future holds big fruits for us. I can see them, touch them soon.

All right, Mr DeMille, I'm ready for my close up.
