Director: Orson Welles
Actors: Joseph Cotten, Dorothy Corningore, Agnes Moorehead, Paul Stewart, Ruth Warrick, Ray Collins
Masterpiece by Orson Welles. Many people say Citizen Kane has been the best movie of all time; it’s also been rated as the number one movie on AFI’s Top 100 Movies list in 1998 and 2007. Although I do agree that it is splendidly shot and that Welles was certainly ahead of his time in terms of directing style, camera movements and light effects, the narration could have been better, in my opinion. Somehow, it’s especially the middle of the movie that can be boring to watch at times.
The movie was nominated for 9 Oscars in 1942, including Best Directing and Best Picture, and it ended up winning one for Best Writing (Original Screenplay).
“The beauty of religious mania is that it has the power to explain everything. Once God (or Satan) is accepted as the first cause of everything which happens in the mortal world, nothing is left to chance…logic can be happily tossed out the window.” - Stephen King
“I would not dare to say that there is a direct relation between mathematics and madness, but there is no doubt that great mathematicians suffer from maniacal characteristics, delirium and symptoms of schizophrenia.” - John Forbes Nash
Next project of mine. Can’t say anything about it, yet… But: Can you imagine any possible interconnections between echoes and the year 2001? Well, I found out all about it and I’ll cover it for you. Just not yet. But if you have an idea already, feel free to drop me an email at D (at) SMOKYGLASS (dot) COM.
