#49 Ghostbusters (1984)
Director: Ivan Reitman
Actors: Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis
This is a BRILLIANT movie! It has such a great concept that you can describe the movie in one sentence and initially get people interested in it: “A group of ex-psychic investigators start a commercial ghost extermination business in New York City.” This one line is so new and compelling that people will throw their $10 at you to get into the cinema and see the movie. Ghostbusters has been a real high-concept movie, and it has a very good comedy screenplay and a group of sympathic actors. Ghostbusters is a classic of the genre and it just had to be on my top 50 movie list.
Revolution.
Just realized it has been more than a month since I posted chapter seven… But chapter eight is just around the corner. Believe me. ![]()

Lookin’ Out My Back Door
Just got home from Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Got to sit down, take a rest on the porch.
Imagination sets in, pretty soon I’m singin’,
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.
Theres a giant doing cartwheels, a statue wearin’ high heels.
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
A dinosaur victrola listening to buck owens.
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.
Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won’t you take a ride on the flyin’ spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Wondrous apparition provided by magician.
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.
Tambourines and elephants are playing in the band.
Won’t you take a ride on the flyin’ spoon?
Doo, doo doo.
Bother me tomorrow, today, I’ll buy no sorrows.
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.
Forward troubles Illinois, lock the front door, oh boy!
Look at all the happy creatures dancing on the lawn.
Bother me tomorrow, today, I’ll buy no sorrows.
Doo, doo, doo, lookin’ out my back door.
This week’s photo impression: A reader lost in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. And what else could it be? The author, J.K. Rowling, can find her name on eight spots in the top 50 book charts this week (!), because the release of the new book has also resulted in people buying the older books. What a cash cow.
Shares of Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) soared 25 percent on Wednesday, a day after the web retailer reported its second-quarter profit more than tripled on strong sales of books, music and electronics. Amazon’s heavy spendings on the reorganization and optimization of their company and sales structure, which had caused Amazon’s shares to take a dive last year, continue to pay off now. At the time of this post, the Amazon.com stock is at $86.34, which results in a $35.4 billion market capitalization.
